Originally from South Waziristan, Maria is Pakistan's Number 1 Female squash player.
Maria Toorpakai seeks to empower the deprived and war-affected citizens of the world, especially women, young girls and boys, enabling them with opportunities to access the highest levels of education, sports, and skill development.
Maria believes by creating hope for a brighter future through community-based businesses, quality education, and sports we can end the ever present and thriving Talibanization and terrorism. Her mission is to bring those in darkness to the light by providing a safe learning environment that will allow everyone to share in the exhilaration of personal discovery, growth, and success both academically and athletically. Guiding these women, young girls and boys to become mindful, independent thinkers, and inspiring them to become role models who will bring about positive changes within their own lives and to those around them. Thereby raising social consciousness while still respecting others' beliefs.
In order to realize these goals, Maria created the Maria Toorpakai Fund encouraging women, young girls and boys to reach their full potential by developing compassionate and wise leaders whose examples inspire others. Maria will begin her mission in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan-- the areas on Pak-Afghan border considered to be one of the most dangerous places on Earth. With your support, we can bring long-lasting peace to Pakistan and to the world.
